Sisters, Brothers and Potato Soup Lovers,
The time has come for you to pick up your spoons and join Chicago Food Not Bombs in the most important anti-war demonstration of the year—the 2012 NATO Summit. Between May 20-21st the 1%’s war machine is hosting its annual summit in Chicago, a city made ‘protest-safe’ by its friendly mayor Rahm Emanuel. In our windy city, NATO delegates will convene behind closed doors to plan and determine the future of its “highly effective global security network”
What does their “security” translate into? Another century of warfare, resource exploitation, and civilian casualties. Another century of combat drones, razed cities, decimated cultures and displaced peoples. Another century of violence, profit and sleepless nights for millions of people—all in the interests of an ever richer, ever more powerful 1%.
This spring, come to Chicago to stand up for the 99%. This May, Chicago Food Not Bombs is coordinating with a variety of activist groups—local and international—to feed mass assemblies and demonstrations against the NATO Summit. As our comrades peacefully congregate in opposition to the war-machine, we’ll be on the front lines keeping the movement fed. Because after all, how can you have a revolution without a dinner party?
Join Food Not Bombs this May to feed the Chicago Spring. We need Soup-Warriors, Onion-Dicers and Dough-Kneaders! The Anti-War movement is nothing without your grandmother’s eggplant recipe! Contribute to the most dynamic front in this courageous non-violent movement—a movement that is striving for a just, peaceful and inclusive world.
Join the Chicago Spring and Cook for Peace!
